Video game sequels can be hit or miss depending on what expectations gamers may have. Sometimes a developer may want to include new mechanics or take a franchise in a different direction with hopes of expanding the target audience. When the product doesn't meet the standards of the hype, backlash can be severe. We're discussing how this dynamic plays out in the current generation of video games and when expectations are reasonable and when they aren't. We touch on other aspects of the gaming industry that have soured the perspective of gamers towards developers and publishers what effect thats had on consumers. Also: our favorite Spongebob moments as we mourn the passing of Stephen Hillenburg.
